1st place step show October 26, 2023

My sorority sisters entrusted me with the role of Step Master for our competition shows! Together, we achieved an incredible victory, winning 1st place as the top sorority in the homecoming step show. It was truly amazing to see the Gamma Iota chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. step in “one accord”!

The Invesco QQQ Legacy Classic: February 4, 2023

My cheer sisters and I cheered at the Invesco QQQ Legacy Classic on Saturday,  February 4, 2023 at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.  It was a college basketball showcase featuring HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities).  It was created by Michael B. Jordan an actor and producer best known for his work in The Black Panther.  He collaborated with other sports and entertainment giants in this second annual basketball classic.  Hampton played Norfolk State in another “Battle of the Bay”.  Delaware State played against Morgan State.  It was a blast and can’t wait for next year!

The highlight was that I helped to organize a field trip for some of my mentees from Keys 2 Success to attend the game.  It was a great introduction to HBCU life.  This project is a part of the initiative that I am leading to create a pipeline and pathway for students in the underserved community in Newark, NJ to attend an HBCU and potentially play in the band!!

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Scholarship Pageant: Evening gown competition

Interfaith Food Pantry Grocery Collection

Covid-19 and the pandemic has significantly exposed the reality of food insecurity.  If there is food insecurity, then there is a strong possibility that other inequities exist: financial, physical and mental health, and personal care.

14th Biennial Emerald and Ivory Debutante Cotillion

As a Senior at Somerville High School I was formally introduced and recognized as a leader in the community on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at the Hanover Marriott in Whippany, NJ. I participated in the 2019 Debutante Leadership Program and 14th Biennial Emerald and Ivory Debutante Cotillion sponsored by the Essex County Chapter of the Links, Incorporated.

The theme of the Cotillion was “Preparing the Next Global Servant Leader” and I was one of 20 junior and senior girls from New Jersey who was selected for the program.  I and my sister debutantes along with our escorts participated in educational, cultural, social and community service activities.

As part of the program, debutantes raise money to support the community service projects of the Essex County Chapter of the Links, Inc.  Through my fundraising efforts, I was named third highest fundraiser. I was also voted Spirit of the Links by my sister debutantes for showing kindness, generosity and sisterhood throughout the program.
